Canada Study Visa

When it comes to study abroad Canada is still one of the favorite countries for Indian students. Canada is one of the most cultural versatile countries in the world which make it a perfect choice for students across the globe. The quality of life and education in Canada is amongst the best globally, making it an idol country for most of the aspiring student who wants to study abroad.

To study in Canada a study has to apply for student visa Canada or study permit. Canada study visa can be applied under two categories: Students Direct Stream Program (SDS) and General category. In June 2018, SDS program was acquainted with the objective of making Study visa process for Canada more streamlined with candidates searching for an explicit Canadian institution. SPP program was replaced by SDS in order to make the visa process more accurate and fast.

The main difference between SDS and General category is the documentation requirements and time taken to obtain the visa. More detailed difference is as follow:

For Indian students below are the eligibility criteria under SDS Program:

  • They should have a valid passport.
  • In IELTS a minimum of 6 bands in each module required for UG &PG.
  • The student has to pay first year’s tuition fee in advance.
  • The student has to buy GIC (Guaranteed Investment of Certificate) $10,000 CAD.
  • The Institution in which the student is applying should have registered DLI (Designated Learning Institution) number.
